Prison Ministry Coordinator
The Gwinnett Metro Baptist Association of Churches conducts prison ministries at Gwinnett County Correctional, Gwinnett County Detention Center, and the Gwinnett County Diversion Center. This ministry would not be possible without the participation of many of our local churches and ministries.
Worship Services/Classes Offered for
Prison Inmates
The Gwinnett Metro Baptist Association of Churches is responsible for conducting the worship services
each Sunday at the Correctional Institute, the Detention center, and the Diversion Center.
We hold Adult Literacy classes at the Diversion Center and the Correctional Institute on
Monday nights. Also trained volunteer counselors meet with inmates at the Correctional
Institute each Thursday night to counsel inmates on matters the inmates indicate on the
Ministry Request and Response Form during Sunday worship services. There are also Bible
studies at the Diversion Center on Tuesday night, at the Detention Center on Tuesday,
Wednesday, and Friday nights and at the Correctional Institute on Monday and Wednesday
nights. MasterLife Discipleship classes are offered at the Correctional Institute on
Thursday nights.
Monthly fellowships are held on Saturday nights featuring Gospel Concerts, refreshments, and a short message. Inmates that finish the Seven Steps and Survival Kits booklets receive a Graduation Certificate and a hardback NIV Study Bible. Inmates that request Baptism after a profession of faith and counseling, receive a Baptism Certificate. A copy is sent to their family if requested.
The Son Has Set Them Free...
In John 8:31-32, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my
disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free". We
have seen many inmates come to know the truth Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior,
coming to know true freedom, becoming new creatures in Christ. Warren Kraus and Lt.
Darrell Johnson have said that the efforts of our volunteers makes their job much easier.
Many of the inmates that attend chapel services and Bible studies turn out to be model
prisoners. Of course, that is because even though they are incarcerated, they are free on
the inside--the Son has set them free, thus they are free indeed. (John 8:36)
